The Red Shoes Project: From Trauma to Triumph: Raising awareness to and combating social and domestic abuse one myth, one dance and red shoe at a time
The Red Shoes Project
“I raise up my voice—not so I can shout, but so that those without a voice can be heard…we cannot succeed when half of us are held back.” Malala Yousafzai
The Red Shoes Project is a Lottery Funded project for women who have been subject to abuse or suffer from trauma.
Within this project we aim to walk with you to full empowerment. A journey back to self. A journey through the trauma and distress to a place of self acceptance and peace. We walk this journey through the powerful use of metaphor through Art Counselling and artistic therapy including family constellation work, movement, art, drama and body awareness. Do not worry you DO NOT have to be an artist/actor/movement person these are simply powerful and healing modalities we use to assist you back to wholeness.
A CIRCLE OF SISTERS creating community, connection and sisterhood.
“I used to spend so much time reacting and responding to everyone else that my life had no direction. Other people’s lives, problems, and wants set the course for my life. Once I realised it was okay for me to think about and identify what I wanted, remarkable things began to take place in my life.” Melody Beattie.
How much time do you spend comparing yourself to others? Making yourselves small, thinking you are not good enough, not worthy enough, not knowledgeable enough? This is a too familiar story and pattern for many. Within a Circle of Sisters we offer support and mentoring for ALL women. We journey together discussing, listening, learning, healing and visioning together. The Circle offers a nourishing place to come to learn, listen, to share, to grow, to be seen, to be in sisterhood with women who care and want to make a difference to their lives, their families and their local environments.
We meet in circle, to dance, we share, we learn new recipes and food, we do yoga, we create art, walk and dance in nature using silent disco headsets, discuss issues that affect us as women, we learn how to manage our money, to create a ‘kick butt CV’, we journey, we laugh, we create together; whilst learning how to communicate and become more empowered women, confident in our skin, with our skin and how to speak in an empowered way.
Join us in circle.
